Charles Schwab is in talks to acquire the Jeffries Group, reports the Wall Street Journal. Though still preliminary, any such deal would allow Schwab to make inroads into the institutional side of the trading business.



After regulatory approval and some handshakes, UBS officially completed its acquisition of RT Capital Management, formerly Royal Bank of Canada's institutional pension fund management division.
