Lorie O'Malley is moving into the newly created position of chief operating officer for the Americas Mutual Fund Group division of Scudder Kemper. She will report to
Mark Casady, regional managing director. Like Casady, O'Malley was most recently head of the firm's Retirement Services Group.
In her new position, O'Malley will be responsible for overseeing the Human Resources, Finance and Technology groups in support of the Americas business. The firm recently expanded Casady's reponsibilities and O'Malley will help with setting the strategic direction and organization of group, said a spokesperson.
The Americas group oversees the firm's Institutional Business, US Retail mutual fund distribution, Scudder Kemper Retirement Services, Private Investment Counsel, and proprietary and joint venture e-businesses in the financial services arena for North and South America.
Scott David is taking the reigns of Scudder Kemper's retirement group. He was most recently director of client Services for the group.
The personnel moves come as Scudder is making a number of changes, including adding loads to its until now no-load family. It is also reportedly planning to bring Kemper funds under the Scudder brand next year.
