Marra will also hold the title of president of the firm's life insurance subsidiaries.

The official will be in charge of the firm's three main business lines: employee benefits, individual life, and international corporate marketing. He will report to Lon Smith, president and ceo of the firm.

In another move, John Walters has been named executive vice president and director of investment products. He will be responsible for a number of Hartford Life's investment offerings including 401(k) and 457 plans. He joins the firm from First Union.
