American Century Investments launched the initial release of Fund Advisor (MFWire 11/30/99)-- an online mutual fund advice engine. The new system allows personalized investment goal-setting and also recommends mutual funds available through a user's current fund family or financial services provider.
Fund Advisor's features include: giving investors the ability to create multiple, personalized investment goals rather than a retirement-only goal, specific no-load mutual fund recommendations from a variety of fund firms for each goal-specific portfolio,allowing investors to designate mutual fund assets to more than one goal, recommendations on mutual fund holdings regardless of where they are held and live customer support-- an e-mail link to American Century through which trained representatives provide real-time assistance.
In a subsequent version, Fund Advisor will feature a "Do It!" function that can execute mutual fund buy/sell recommendations at the push of a button for users who are on the American Century Brokerage or mutual fund platforms. Or, if non-American Century investors decide to act on the product's buy/sell recommendations, Fund Advisor will provide information, such as 800-numbers, on how to execute the transactions on other fund complex or brokerage platforms.
