Ivy Mackenzie Distributors will reopen its
Ivy European Opportunities Fund, launched in May, 1999 which it closed briefly
in order to determine its place in the fund family's lineup, and specifically whether it was significantly different than the
Ivy Pan-Europe Fund, launched in May 1997.
Ivy considered both merging the tiny $1.2 million fund and closing the fund permanently, but decided in the end that the investment style utilized as well as it's more large-cap orientation would serve different investors' needs.
"We closed the fund briefly to allow us time to better distinguish this fund from the ($5.2 million) Pan-Europe Fund. We are confident that both funds have merit in the marketplace," said
Thomas Bivin, executive vice president and national sales manager.
"This fund will typically employ a more aggressive investment style than the one utilized by the management team of the Ivy Pan-Europe Fund," Bivin added, "and as a result, will appeal to an investor with a different profile."
