The Berger Group of Funds has confirmed that its founder,
Bill Berger, has died in a Denver hospital at the age of 73. Berger had a history of heart disease, but the exact cause of death is unknown.
The Funds have released the following statement:
"All of us at The Berger Funds are deeply saddened by the death of our founder, Bill Berger. Bill's legacy will go far beyond his reputation as a legendary investor.
He inspired millions of Americans to make their lives better by investing for the future. Bill was truly an original. His wit, his warmth and his wisdom enriched us all and we will miss him."
Berger retired in 1994 from all management responsibilities at the company when he sold an 80% stake to
Kansas City Southern Industries.
