Forward Funds has hired Julie Cooling as regional director of the Southeast district, based in Florida. Cooling comes from NationsBanc Montgomery Securities, a Bank of America subsidiary.

Cooling reports to J. Alan Reid, newly-appointed president and ceo of Forward Funds, and will likely share Hansberger Global Investors' Fort Lauderdale, Florida offices.

"We want people to have a broader background than wholesaling," said Reid, explaining that the firm often reaches outside of the realm of traditional wholesaling to fill its ranks.

Forward also has an opening for a wholesaler in its San Fransisco home office.
