John Hancock Funds will be laying three new eggs for its incubator on Friday. On June 1, the Communications, International Small Cap, and Traditional Value funds will launch into the firm's incubator program.

The Communications Funds will be team managed internally, but the other two will be sub-advised by San Francisco-based Nicholas-Applegate.

Keith Hartstein, senior vice president of sales and marketing, explained that, for John Hancock, marketing support is not pivotal in the selection of sub-advisors.

"Marketing doesn't play a role in decisions," he said. "It's a strategic partnership issue; there is a factor that's attributed to marketability."
