American Skandia, the Connecticut insurer, has made an agreement with Morningstar, Inc. to provide its analytics for all of American Skandia's investment options offered through their variable insurance products and mutual funds.

Some of the services included in the analytics package are investment tools, star ratings, categories and style boxes, Tricia Rothschild, product manager at Morningstar told the MFWire.com.

Rothschild would not comment on the terms of the agreement. The information will be used in Skandia's proprietary software and in its quarterly investment reporting publications.

"The analytics will help Skandia provide information to their clients to help them do their jobs better," Rothschild said.

A spokesperson for American Skandia said, "Using a third party for information makes us more reputable." It is expected that the new information offered to investment advisors will help market Skandia's products.
