, who serves as vice chairman of the San Mateo, California-based company, was No. 305 on the list, with $2.2 billion. The 67-year-old ranked 284th last year, with $3.8 billion.
Besides the three, other names with mutual fund connections include Canada's Paul Desmarais, Sr.
, patriarch of Power Corp.
, whose Power Financial Corp. subsidiary owns Putnam Investments
. Desmarais was No. 246, with $2.6 billion. Also on the list is Gordon Getty
, heir to the Getty oil fortune and backer of Forward Management
. Getty placed 334th, with $2 billion.
The number of billionaires shrank from 1,125 last year to 793.
