Q-Group Taps OppFunds Manager

Dr. Marc Reinganum, Director of Quantitative Research and Senior Portfolio Manager for the OppenheimerFunds’ Main Street Team, was elected to the Board of Directors of The Institute for Quantitative Research, also know as the Q-Group®. In his role as Director of Quantitative Research and Senior Portfolio Manager, Dr. Reinganum serves as co-manager of the Oppenheimer Main Street Fund, the Oppenheimer Main Street Opportunity Fund and the Oppenheimer Main Street Small Cap Fund, OppenheimerFunds’ quantitative funds. Completing its’ 42nd year, the Q-Group helps the investment community create and implement disciplined solutions to financial and investment problems through seminar programs and ongoing quantitative financial research.

As a member of the Board of Directors, Dr. Reinganum will participate in semi-annual business meetings with Q-Group® Sponsors, helping to further the objectives of the Institute. Candidates for the Board of Directors of the Institute are selected from Sponsor organizations and occasionally senior investment professionals outside of Sponsor organizations who will materially contribute to the Institute’s future operations. Currently, the Institute has over 140 sponsor members including banks, insurance companies, securities firms, investment consultants, investment advisors, mutual fund companies, state and private pension fund managers, foundations and university endowment funds. The Q-Group® is dedicated to the development and understanding of new quantitative techniques to improve the operation of the global financial marketplace.

“Dr. Reinganum is widely recognized as a leading expert in his field,” said James L. Dr. Reinganum is most renowned as the founding father of stock market anomalies. Specifically, his ground breaking research in the field of small cap stocks offered a strong critic of the "random walk down Wall Street" theory of stock prices. For this work, the Financial Analysts Federation honored him with the Graham and Dodd Scroll.

In 2001, Dr. Reinganum was listed in the Top 1% of most cited authors in finance literature. In 2003, he received three All Star Paper awards from the Journal of Financial Economics for his often cited research. He is listed in Marquis’ Who’s Who in America (Millennium Edition). Mr. Reinganum has served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Financial Research, Journal of Futures Markets, Journal of Portfolio Management, Management Science, Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, Quarterly Journal of Business and Economics, and The Financial Review. In addition, he is a reviewer for numerous academic journals including the American Economic Review, Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics and Journal of Political Economy.

Prior to joining OppenheimerFunds, Dr. Reinganum had been the Mary Jo Vaughn Rauscher Chair in Financial Investments at Southern Methodist University. At SMU, he also served as the Director of the Finance Institute, Chairman of the Finance Department, President of the Faculty at the Cox School of Business and member of the Board of Trustee Investment committee. Previously, Dr. Reinganum was President of Reinganum Consulting, a firm providing investment research services to large institutional investors and mutual funds. Prior to joining the faculty at Southern Methodist University, Mr. Reinganum taught in the business schools at the University of Chicago, the University of Iowa, and the University of Southern California. Dr. Reinganum received his Ph. D. from the University of Chicago in 1979 and his A.B. with high honors from Oberlin College in 1975.
