Brokers, ARS Fill Special WSJ Section

Some articles featured in the monthly section in the Wall Street Journal on the mutual fund industry feature stray a bit from the world of open and closed-end funds. "Investing in Funds: A Monthly Analysis" in Monday's paper includes several topics that stray off the beaten '40 Act path.

Karen Hube gives a little press to American Funds, Barclays' iShares,Fidelity, T. Rowe Price and Vanguard for their globally-exposed stock funds.

Fundies still interested in the continued auction-rate securities saga might want to check out Daisy Maxey's article about how some brokers are siding with their clients in the recent lawsuits over ARS. And in "Adviser Alert" in the same special section, Dow Jones' Evelyn Juan, Kristin McNamara and Colleen O'Connor-Grant report that CitiGroup's Smith Barney is offering ARS-holding customers loans before preparing to buy it all $7.3 billion of it back by November 5.
